Starting at
the beginning of this year we will be running a club for NC students from
grades 9 -12.
The club
members will have a chance to learn advanced information technology skills
such as research, team work, Web publishing ,etc. The club will meet
on Thursday afternoons at Neveh Channah.
International
Cooperation Competition
The
club members will participate in GSBI's Virtual
Classroom Contest 03, a prestigious international competition
between school teams from around the world. We have joined forces with Ms. Barbara Mcarthur's Web
Design Course at Waterford
Mott High School in
Waterford, Michigan, USA, and Ms. Sharon Peters' Grade 10
Computer Studies Course at Emmanuel
Christian School in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Building a
Personal Homepage
Our first
task will be to build a personal homepage which will enable our partners to
get to know us. We will begin to get to know them through their pages.
Later on, as the project progresses, we will communicate with them more
directly as we cooperate in researching and building our team website. The
page should contain the following information:
- First Name (only) and
email address
(no mail address or phone number!)
- Family, hobbies,
preferences
- Tell about Neveh Channah
- Your goals for now and for
the future
- What you want to know about
your partner's country, city, etc.
- What you want your partner
to know about your country, city, etc.
- Photograph of yourself and
other graphics (optional)
This task will
be completed using a Web Page editor. You may type answers to the above at
home and then save it as a "TEXT" file on a diskette. Bring this
into class and then we will be able to "copy" and
"paste" your typed words into the program. Don't forget to bring
photos of yourself, your family, your hobbies and your pets to scan and use
in your webpages.
